While the 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid boasts an amazing 41 mpg city rating, it is clear that when it comes to fuel economy, there can never be too much of a good thing. At Anderson Ford, we couldn't agree with this notion more and neither can the good people at Ford as they prepare to inject the 2013 Fusion Hybrid with a 15 percent increase in fuel economy.

This massive increase to the vehicle's mpg rating would result in a rating of around 47 to 48 miles per gallon in the city. And, while the Fusion Hybrid already overshadows many of its competitors in terms of fuel economy, this could solidify the Fusion Hybrid as being the absolute best in its class, second to none.

Ford really has two goals with this latest improvement to their award-winning hybrid. First, they want to deliver the best possible driving experience to their customers, but that one is obvious. Second, Ford is looking to topple two industry giants: the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. To do this, Ford is setting an aggressive sales goal for the 2013 Fusion Hybrid of an increase of 50 percent in sales. That equates to about 3,000 units sold each month once it launches!

Of course, Ford isn't saying a word about how they are planning on delivering this expected 15 percent increase in fuel economy. After all, why would Ford divulge such important information before the vehicle has even hit the market? It only makes sense, in the spirit of competition. What we do know though, is that the Ford Fusion is actually in for a major redesign for the 2013 model-year.
