Choosing a pickup truck for your daily drives in Bloomington or for your Decatur job site is no easy task, especially with the multitude of choices available. When it comes down to comparing the 2020 Ford F-150 vs. Toyota Tundra, though, there’s simply no question as to which you should choose. The new F-150 wins outright across the board. Here, Anderson Ford breaks down the F-150’s advantages for you! When you’re ready to get behind the wheel, contact our team to schedule a test drive!
With the 2020 Ford F-150, Springfield drivers can completely customize their performance, thanks to its six-engine lineup. The same can’t be said of the Toyota Tundra, which has only one engine available.
Based on these figures, you can see that the F-150 also produces more power with several of its engines, especially with the 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost®. What’s more, the Tundra engines come paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, whereas the F-150 has a 10-speed automatic transmission available.
In addition to more engine options and stronger overall performance, the F-150 can also tow up to 3,000 more pounds than the Tundra. When properly equipped, the F-150 tows a maximum of 13,200 pounds, while the Tundra’s tow rating tops out at 10,200 pounds.
Clearly, the Ford F-150 is more powerful than its Toyota competitor, but it’s also more efficient. With a gas engine, the Ford truck hits an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, as compared with the Tundra’s 13 mpg city and 18 mpg highway. If you opt instead for the F-150 diesel engine, Champaign-area drivers can expect up to 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.
