Hometown Atmosphere in Clinton IL
Clinton is located in the heart of Central Illinois at the intersection of State Routes 51, 54, and 10, 161 miles southwest of Chicago, 142 miles northeast of St. Louis, 45 miles northeast of Springfield (State Capital), 45 miles west of Champaign-Urbana, 22 miles south of Bloomington/Normal, and 18 miles north of Decatur, which provides a great location for business, commercial, and industrial interests.
Clinton is in one of the most productive agricultural areas in the nation. It has exceptional schools, growing businesses, fine dining, a thriving downtown, parks, highly acclaimed hospital, low crime rate, and plenty of smalltown charm and hospitality.
Like most small communities, Clinton hosts a whole year of homegrown events: Easter Egg Hunt, Maydays Festival with carnival vendors and major concerts on the square, Fourth of July fireworks display, weekly fishing tournaments, and Christmas parade with a downtown lighting ceremony.
The annual Apple ‘n Pork Festival, held the last weekend of September on the grounds of the C.H. Moore Homestead, celebrates harvest time in Clinton. Sample mouthwatering apple and pork treats, from pork chili, BBQ ribs, and pig ears to apple fritters, taffy apples, cider and, of course, apple pie! There is also live entertainment, hundreds of crafters, and a flea market with over 300 vendors and 100,000 in attendance.
The C.H. Moore Homestead offers exciting events April through December, including kite flying, an antique quilts display, antique auto show, ice cream socials, Victorian Christmas tea and candlelight tours, special displays, and more.
